This page contains important information that you need to know
about our reunion. (NOTE:
If you will need lodging accommodations,
para. 5 , below,
warrants your
immediate attention.)
1.
TIMING:
Our official reunion party will begin at 7 pm on Saturday evening and
continue until 11
pm (unless we decide to continue for another hour).
2.
MAILED “INVITATIONS”:
Reunion “invitations” containing requests for advance payment in full
(see paras. 3 and 4, below) were mailed by
Reunions Unlimited, Inc. (www.reunions-unlimited.com)
beginning in mid-June. If we had your correct mailing address, it should have appeared
in your postal mailbox
by now
in an envelope displaying the following logo (and it will be
the only “hard copy,” mailed notice you will likely receive).

You probably have some time to respond
(see para. 4, below), but sooner
is better. Paid reservations will be cancellable, subject to a 50%
penalty, if your refund request is received no later than Friday, 9/11.

PRICE PER PERSON:
The price per person for our reunion will be $99 if paid timely (see para.
4, below)
by check
+ $5 for credit card payments and will include a sitdown
dinner, music
(our
music, that is)
free
valet
parking
for the evening (6 pm to midnight) by
Impressive Parking
(of
Oceanside, it so happens)
—
and surprises. A cash bar will
also be available.
4.
PAYMENTS DUE:
You will have until Wednesday, 8/26, to finalize your reunion
registration and
prepay at the standard rate; however, late payments
will continue to be accepted, subject to a
$10 penalty, until Wednesday, 9/23, if paid with a
credit or debit card, or Tuesday, 9/22, if paid
with a check.

If you want to pay at the door (not recommended), you
can do that, too, but it will be CASH ONLY!
5.
LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS
AT THE REUNION VENUE: Although we do have a limited
number of rooms set aside in a room block at the
reunion site, the Long Beach Hotel
(www.longbeachhotelny.com),
at a guaranteed discounted rate of $180 per night, we are told that
the summer season in Long Beach continues until the end
of September. Therefore, available
rooms will disappear — and unguaranteed room rates will
escalate — fast. The hotel’s
cancellation policy is 72 hours before check-in.
To
obtain a room in our room block at the special discounted rate, contact
the hotel’s reservation desk directly by phone, NOW, at
516/544-4444, and identify yourself as an attendee of Oceanside High
School’s class of 1960 reunion on 9/26/15. Ask for a reservation
confirmation no. and an e-mail confirmation. If you plan to attend our
Friday night mixer (details to be announced) you will likely want to
reserve a room for two nights, Friday and Saturday.
6.
ALTERNATIVE LODGING
ACCOMMODATIONS:
For those of you who do not act quickly enough to obtain a room at the
Long Beach Hotel, or who would like to see alternative lodging
arrangements (most of which are less expensive), a list of possible
alternatives (within 5 miles)
is below.
7.
Attention NY City residents:
Please
e-mail Howie
as soon as practical if you plan
to use the LIRR to get to Long Beach on Saturday
evening for our reunion (don't forget to ask for
the seniors' fare discount). Since you will not be
using our free valet parking service, we are
investigating the feasibility of arranging for a car (or
cars) to meet one train
for a pickup at (and
return to)
the Long Beach LIRR station at no cost. But if we go forward with this
plan, to assure
you a
seat, you must
e-mail your reservation soon, and tell me if you will be one person
or two.
8.
IF
YOU NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ATTEND OUR REUNION: As a result
of the
generosity of the members of our
unique class association
(our classmates,
that is) we have
funds in our treasury available to help
those who wish to attend our reunion but who need
financial assistance to do so. If you would
like such assistance, please
e-mail Howie
(on a
confidential basis, of course),
and we will do what we can.
Friday night:
We are planning a cocktail mixer (with a cash bar and “finger
food” – no dinner*)
at Sutton Place
(www.suttonplacelb.com),
124 W. Park Avenue, Long Beach, beginning at 7:30 pm on Friday evening,
September 25th. Cost will be $10/person for those registered
for the Saturday night reunion, and $20/person for others (cash
only at-the-door).

Sunday morning:
On Sunday morning, September 27th, we will have an informal
breakfast beginning at 10 am at the Rockville Diner (where the Oasis
used to be?), 263 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre, NY (no admission
fee; order off the menu).
Please, I would appreciate it if you would let me know ASAP by
e-mail (to the extent you
have not already done so) if you plan to attend any of these events so
we can be sure we are able to accommodate everyone.
