August 2009 Dear friends and classmates, Consistent with our stated mission, we are extremely pleased to announce that, through the generosity of our wonderful members (our classmates, that is), and through the vehicle of our voluntary dues structure, the Board of Directors of this Association has been able to designate funds in our budget to enable us to provide financial assistance to any classmate who requests it to subsidize the cost of travel and admission for attending our 50-Year Grand Reunion. Such assistance will be provided on a completely confidential, first, come, first served, and available funds basis. If at all possible, we do not want any of our dear friends and classmates who wish to attend this very special event to miss it just because of financial difficulties. To take advantage of this offer (which we believe is truly unique in the extremely popular world of high school reunions), all you have to do is contact me by telephone or e-mail at 702/279-5389 or howie@1960sailors, net, and ask for it. I will not ask you for any personal information, and we will determine, based on your estimated travel costs and our available funds, how much we can provide to assist you. Your request and your identity will be known solely to me and kept completely confidential from other Board members and classmates, although the amounts of assistance to be awarded to requesting individuals will be discussed with our Treasurer and possibly other selected members of our Board. The Association's Board of Directors, including its Officers, and your other classmates who have generously provided or agreed to provide financial support for our mission and activities, largely with this offer in mind, sincerely hope we will all be together once again at this reunion – as we were 50 years ago – and that you will not allow any financial hardship to keep you away. Cordially, your friend,
